How do we know more about God? Through obedience. Once we enter into a relationship with Christ, we learn more and more about the Lord through obeying His teaching. But we have to be on guard against the enemy who wants to keep us from learning and obeying. Peter gives us a great warning, 1 Peter 5:8-9 NIV 8 "Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. 9 Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that your brothers throughout the world are undergoing the same kind of sufferings."
Satan wants to keep believers off balance and ignorant of God's will for their lives. We need to be alert to his tactics and lean on the Lord's power. If we take our eyes off Jesus, we open ourselves up to wandering in darkness. Oswald Chambers reminds us, "if we turn away from obedience even for one second, darkness and death are immediately at work again." Stay strong brothers and sisters. Let us not give the enemy any chance to work in our lives.
Be blessed and be on guard.
