As I was reading our devotion for today, I was reminded of what God desires most from us - our obedience. Too many times God speaks and we dig our heels in. We stubbornly believe that we can debate with God and change His mind. He is the Lord and we are not. Oh how our lives could be better if we just simply said "Yes Lord." But we often stubbornly insist on getting our way instead of allowing God to have His way. We act like stubborn children in need of discipline. When we debate with God, we often rob others of a blessing that could come from God using us to serve them. While we debate with God, people continue to hurt, relationships remain broken, people enter into eternity.
Another problem we have is that we sometimes talk too much and listen too little. Sometimes we get so busy telling others how much we know that we can't hear more that God would say to us. God wants us to listen to Him. Psalm 46:10 NIV says, "Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth." Sometimes we get so busy that we can't hear God speak. We need to get in our prayer closets, shut the world out, and tune God in to hear what He would have us to do.
Are we listening? Can we hear what He is saying to us? Will we do what He says, or will we deabate with God to avoid doing what He has told us?
