Do Not Quench the Spirit

How do you make the most of everyday? Do we as Christians live to please Jesus or ourselves? Are we more controlled by God's desires for us or our own desires? These are challenging questions we need to answer everyday. If we are not being led by God then we will quench the Holy Spirit within us. If we are holding back our obedience or stubbornly refusing to honor Christ, then we will be guilty of grieving the Holy Spirit. Paul warn us against this in 1 Thessalonians 5:16-19 NIV - 16 Be joyful always; 17 pray continually; 18 give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus. 19 Do not put out the Spirit's fire. Christians must be walking with God so that we don't quench the Spirit within us.

In our devotion today, Oswald Chambers reminds us that if we have to go back in memory to tell what God has done for us, then there is a problem. If we are walking with God, there won't be a need to think back to a time when God acted on our behalf. There will be plenty of current memories to draw upon to testify of God's greatness. There will be plenty of examples of Christ using us to bless others right here, right now. If we have to think back to a time when God used us to bless others, then this should convict us of our lack of walking with Christ today.
Colossians 2:6 NASB - Therefore as you have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him.

How we live matters. So let us who have received Christ as Lord and Savior walk in Him today and everyday.

Perfect communion with God in order to hear HIS still small voice.
I think in my own life I would like to hear a loud voice. With all the distractions in our lives, like sports, TV, radio, Family commintments, and the internet to just name a few. Can keep us from hearing HIS still small voice.
It brings to light to me that I must reserve time for God everyday. And not only a time for HIM daily, but thinking and praying, and reading HIS word throughout the entire day!
And satan is always right there to tell you it is not necessary to pray right now you already prayed this morning, or hey you can read your Bible when you get home, its not really the time to read it on your lunch. Something like, just relax just watch some TV you need to relax.
Thanks,
